Curbside Farewell - Sign-up

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope that you and your families continue to be well and are gearing up for the end of this unusual school year.  I know that we can all likely use a summer break filled with sunshine and much less screen time!  By now, I expect you received an email from our Director, Mr. Glazier with a summary of what to expect in the coming weeks.  With much being said in the media, it is difficult to keep everything straight.  In this email, I will share information specific to our school with regards to:

  • end of year pick-up/drop-off/farewell days
  • what to expect with synchronous and asynchronous instruction moving forward
  • returning borrowed devices, SEA computers, textbooks and other school materials
  • attendance reminders
  • reminder about vaccination clinics in the area as well as an information session available to parents

I apologize for the length, but please read carefully as there are a number of important pieces of information including how you sign-up for a time to stop by the school for the curb-side farewell.

Curbside Farewell

Our school will be having two curb-side farewell days on Friday, June 25 and Monday, June 28th from 9:00am – 4:00 pm each day. On these days families will come to drop-off any borrowed devices, textbooks or other school materials, pick-up their report cards, any personal belongings and a special FAMILY SUMMER PACK courtesy of Catholic School Council and the Staff while saying farewell to their teachers and school staff.  This will be a drive through event.  We encourage parents/guardians to bring their children.  Families must sign-up for a time on one of these two days.  You will only need ONE timeslot per family.  Families can sign up for a time using this link: https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/[email protected]/bookings/  If you have any issues with booking or any questions/concerns, please call the school or email Mrs. Kiesau or Mrs. Hasson.

When it is your schedule time, we ask that you approach the school by Peel St. and turn onto York St.  York St. will be the waiting area for cars.  When directed by staff, you will turn onto Parkside Dr. and move through different stations to drop-off and pick-up items along Parkside Dr (heading North).  We ask that you and your family remain in the car at all times, but we encourage you to put down your windows and chat with staff as you move down the line.  Once you have dropped off and received all your items, we ask that you head North on Parkside Dr. and leave the area promptly to make room for the next family.  Please note that there will be no access to the school or playground on these days.

Returning Borrowed Devices, Textbooks and other school materials

We ask that any families who have borrowed Chromebooks, iPads, or internet hubs please return these devices at your scheduled farewell time.  Please be sure to include all chords and chargers as you may be charged for any missing chords or chargers.  Please label each device with the student name or return with the sheet it was sent home with (no worries if you don’t have the sheet anymore we have record of it).

Students who have SEA equipment (computer, mouse, chords, backpack, etc.) also need to return all of this equipment at the Farewell Drop-off.  Please place all equipment in the backpack and make sure that the student’s name is on the backpack (many have a tag with the student name).  If will be updated over the summer and available for student use in the fall.

Please also return any textbooks, library books, novels or other school materials that you have at home.  There will be staff collecting these items on the farewell days as well.

Synchronous/Asynchronous Sessions

As mentioned in Mr. Glazier’s email, staff will be at the school on June 23rd and June 24 gathering student belongs, preparing report cards and getting things ready for the Farewell Days.  On these days, synchronous learning may be decreased.  Our pick-up dates will be June 25th and June 28th and all staff will be needed at school for these days.  This means that all synchronous learning sessions will end on June 24th.  Please refer to your child’s D2L site or email from the teacher for specifics about the final synchronous virtual celebration for your child’s class.  Staff will continue to post review work asynchronously for June 25, 28 and 29th (the official last day of school), should you want your children to engage in some review work.  If your child will be absent from remote learning anytime between now and June 24th, please either call the office and leave a message or let your child’s teach know.  This will ensure that your child is accounted for, but that we will not have to continue calling your house to check attendance.  On June 29th school staff will be involved in planning and transition meetings to wrap-up the current year and prepare for September.

As we make our way through June, we would just like to thank all families for their continue patience and support as we move through this difficult year.  We are still here to help and support and if you or your child needs support now or throughout the summer, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.  There are a number of services and programs throughout the summer in partnership with our district and our community partners that we can connect you with, should the need arise.

Take care and enjoy these last few weeks of the school year.

Mrs. Hasson
