Early this morning, before the start of the school day, we learned of a fire at St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Mount Forest. We are currently working with local emergency services and authorities to assess the scope of the damage. No staff, students, or community members were injured during this incident.
The Wellington Catholic District School Board is developing a temporary accommodation plan to support the continuity of learning for our students. We will continue to provide updates to our families on this situation when available.
The school is closed today, January 25th to students and staff.
Friday, January 26th is scheduled as a professional development day across elementary schools in the Wellington Catholic District School Board and there will be no school for students tomorrow.
We are grateful for the efforts of our local fire department for their immediate response this morning in attending to this issue.
