After careful consideration and consultation with the Ministry of Education and Upper Grand District School Board, the PA Day originally scheduled for Friday, April 19, 2024 has been rescheduled and will now occur on Monday, April 8, 2024.
We are making this adjustment due to potential safety and supervision concerns related to a rare total solar eclipse which is set to occur during the dismissal hours of our schools, and when students would be traveling home on that day. The Ministry of Education recognizes the importance of this adjustment and has encouraged school boards to prioritize safety in such unique circumstances.
We will be adjusting plans for the professional development day and will be providing you with further updates and an agenda closer to the date. We understand that this change may impact families' plans for the April PA Day; however, we hope that communicating this change well in advance provides sufficient time for families and staff to adjust their schedules accordingly.
